Jordan Rally organisers say 'show will go on'

Less than 3 weeks before the start of the 2nd Jordan Rally, harsh storms & flash floods have hit many parts of the rally's 348 Km route.

The fiercest storms in a generation brought 6 months of rain in 72 hours. Flash floods followed & have ruined some of the rally route. The rally route will be tweeked to avoid areas that are unrepairable before the rally begins.

Government agencys are working alongside private companys & the army to repair the stages 'to be' & deliver the biggest sporting event in Jordan.

The biggest problem is that most of that areas are under sea level & the problem is compounded because the flood water rushes down off the mountains & makes everything worse.

Clerk of the Course Khaled Zakaria said “It has been an incredible show of unity, determination & professionalism by all parties invloved”. The COC also commented that “ Even during the horrendous storms, we had people working up to their knees in mud & water determined to restrict the amount of damage caused to the routes. It has been a fantastic national effort & after surveying the damage, we are confident of having everything back on track soon”.
