Cronin wins International Rally Isle of Man

Reigning BRC Champion Keith Cronin has reignited his campaign for his second Championship in as many years after scoring a well deserved win on the International Rally Isle of Man.

Cronin won the event on the back of a terrible run on the Donegal International Rally, which was cut short after the death of Thomas Maguire on Knockalla 1. Turbo problems hampered the Corkman's progress, but ultimately, he crashed out of the event on Saturday morning.

Cronin's main opposition came in the form of the 'Welsh Wizard' Gwyndaf Evans, the two of them fighting at the top of the leaderboard until Evans crashed near the end of Leg 1, losing around three minutes in the process.

The car worked well. In such treacherous conditions you need to have confidence and we were able to push when we needed to.” said Cronin

Some other performances worthy of mention: Former Pirelli Star Driver Adam Gould sat in second after SS7, but an argument with a telephone pole was lost, so that put him into the retirement ranks. Jarkko Nikara landed fifth after an amazing drive in his little Renault Twingo R2. The Twingo proving to be a pretty quick little package.
