The 79th running of the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo has been confirmed as the opener of the 2011 IRC series.
Marking 100 years since the first Monte Carlo Rally, the event will run from the Wednesday 19th to Saturday 23rd with 324 competitive kilometers run over 13 stages.
The first day will be run in the Ardeche départment, while Day 2 will centre in the Drome region and Day 3 will take place on mountain roads overlooking Monaco and Nice.
ACM General Commissioner René Isoart has urged amateurs to enter the event, saying: “They have been instrumental in some of the most wonderful episodes of the history of the Monte Carlo Rally. With their involvement, the rally was able to develop and span a whole century of automobile sport with great success. And so we would like the rally centenary to reflect this spirit.”
The calender for the 2011 IRC season is to be announced later in the autumn.
