F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen has had his confidence boosted after having a successful test in preparation to next week's Neste Oil Rally Finland.
The test mainly focused on getting the right suspension settings on his Citroen C4 WRC.
Raikkonen competed on the 2009 running of the event, and matched the pace of the Class N4 regulars, until he crashed out of the event in spectacular style, on the same bend that Mads Otsberg crashed his Subaru Impreza S14 WRC into the hard Finnish trees.
Even though he competed last year, he says that the experiance might not help him, stating that the WRC Citroen C4 and the Fiat Grande Punto S2000 are completley different cars.
“The gap between the Super 2000 car and the World Rally Car is so big that it’s almost like doing a different rally. Of course it helps to have some idea of what the roads are like. But when it comes to driving, it will be a completely different experience.” siad Raikkonen.
But Raikkonen, just like Loeb, is aiming for a finish, not a place.
“That’s going to be the main aim, for sure. But after the test I have a good feeling with the car, so let’s just see what happens.”
