Kronos Racing may return to WRC competition later on in this season.
Team boss Marc Van Delan has announced that he is in discussions with a 'good level driver' about competing in a Peugeot 207 S2000 on the German and French rounds of this year's WRC.
“Germany and France is the plan but it is not finalised yet so I don’t want to say who the driver is but they are on a good level. It will be interesting to see the level of our car compared to the other Super 2000 cars in the WRC. There is no reason why we can’t be at the front.” said Van Dalen
Kronos began competing in the WRC in 2004, when they ran the works Citroens in the J-WRC. Dani Sordo took the title in 2005. When Citroen pulled out of the WRC in 2006, Kronos was chosen to run a factory supported Xsara WRC for Sebastian Loeb. Kronos also ran Xsara's for Sordo and Xevi Pons. Colin McRae competed in a Kronos-run Citroen Xsara WRC for the Rally of Turkey, standing in for the injured Loeb.
In 2007, Kronos began running the works Peugeot entries in the IRC as well as competing in the WRC with the OMV Kronos Citroen WRT, with Manfred Stohl the main driver. Francois Duval drove for the team in Germany, leading the event for a time, but spinning a few times lead to him finishing second.
Peugeot enjoyed greater success in the IRC, winning the Manufacturers Championship in 2008 and 2009. Kris Meeke and Nicholas Vouilloz won the Drivers Championships in 2009 and 2008.
